Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is a part of Mahabharat where there is a conversation between God and a human on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The human (Arjuna) is distressed and talks his heart out with the supreme self. Their conversation roams around so many aspects of life and living that the text, later on, becomes the most revered scripture of Hindus and virtually lays down the foundation of how to live life. Many translators have given their own explanations of the events and given meanings to their conversations. My Geeta deliberates my own journey in discovering what their talk might have revealed. Bhagwat Geeta is not very large, it is a comprehensive text of 700 shlokas (stanzas). The beauty of the text is that it focuses on the action at hand while at the same time explaining metaphysical understandings.
Many people raise their questions regarding the suitability of the text in the current era. I am also trying to find out the same. I feel that it is not so much about our understanding of the scripture as scriptures reveal themselves to the reader in a course of discovery. The stanzas are grouped according to the theme of the talk for a more cohesive understanding. Hope my journey helps you in your journey in understanding what the creator and created conversed.
I surrender at the lotus feet of the creator and pray for his power for understanding what he said in the scripture.
